Trans Visibility Day

In the past few years, states have advanced a record number of bills targeting the basic rights of transgender people. Currently, at lease 21 states are considering or have already introduced bills that would restrict gender-affirming care.

Gender-affirming care restrictions don’t only cause harm for kids - they also fail to take into consideration the parents’ right and responsibility to raise their kids. It ignores their autonomy which is similar to fascist regimes where parents must raise their families according to certain rules. We believe that everyone should have the freedom to make their own health care decisions and access the care they need to survive and thrive.

Universal healthcare is the ideal we aim to achieve. Meanwhile, we continue our Health Equity work to ensure BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee communities have access to safe abortions, healthcare, and are aware of their rights under Oregon laws. During the legislative session 2023, we are partnering with other community based organizations through the Fair Shot coalition to support HB 2002, the Reproductive Health & Access to Care Bill. The bill will expand insurance coverage for more gender-affirming care. The bill will also protect access to abortion and providers from legal repercussions for providing reproductive care. Learn more about the bill here.

We will not stop speaking out against the attacks targeting trans kids and the transgender community in general, and we will support any initiative that affirms their right to live and thrive.
