Celebrating The Black Excellence Leadership Table: A Space for Black Organizers and Leaders to Learn and Grow

In March 2023, the Black Excellence Leadership Table (BELT) completed its final session and graduated from the leadership program. The BELT program is designed to create a learning space for Black organizers and leaders. Participants engage in policy strategies and hear from Oregon's Black policy and political leaders. In addition, BELT connects participants with policy areas that interest them, introducing them to organizers and active groups advocating for those policies.

This program will continue to run through 2024, and we look forward to connecting with the next wave of community leaders. Unite Oregon is committed to continuing our work in centering black voices, lives, and experiences in our work.

We give special thanks to Nafisa Fai, Joy Alise, Lamar Wise, Kayse Jama, JoAnn Hardesty, Ana Del Rocío, and all the others who made this program possible.
