The African Women: Dare to Invest in Learning to Lead (DILL)

Unite Oregon is launching the first civic leadership program for emerging African women leaders in Washington County.

The program aims at helping emerging African women leaders build relationships, gain civic and political knowledge, and develop community organizing and leadership skills. The program is a partnership between Unite Oregon, African Heritage Education Empowerment Community (AFRHEEC), and Washington County and is a pilot program that aims to boost civic literacy and engagement of underrepresented communities in city government.

The training is structured based on a popular education model, which draws from each participant’s direct. Eighteen African women leaders will benefit from this program and receive leadership development and advocacy skills training. At the end of the training, two to four cohort members will join Unite Oregon’s leadership councils, issue committees, staff, or other
