Washington County Civic Leadership Training Cohort Application 2024

Hey! Are you looking to be more involved in your community? Well this is the perfect chance!

Please join us this spring and early summer as Unite Oregon will be hosting Civic Leadership Training workshops to empower the community here in Washington County. 

The following topics are proposed but may be refined prior to starting the program:

  • Governments 101: Understand the different forms and layers of government.

  • Advocacy 101: Learn the definition and implications of advocacy, the different forms of advocacy to create the type of change the community wants to see.

  • Power Analysis/Power Mapping: A tool to Identify who has power in the community, and to figure out what will move those individuals or institutions to do whatever it is you want them to do.

  • Strategy Charts: A tool to outline goals, stakeholders, available resources, opportunities vs. challenges, and to identify tactics that leverage opportunities and overcome challenges to achieve our goals.

  • Testimony 101: Practice to educate impacted community members on how they can prepare and deliver testimonies regarding issues that concern them and the communities they represent.

  • Transformative Justice: will be introduced as an alternative model that has been explored for long and it seeks to respond to violence without creating more violence and/or engaging in harm reduction to lessen the violence.
