Unite Oregon Lobby Day 2025
FAQs
What is a Lobby Day, and why is it important?
Lobby Day is when individuals or groups meet with lawmakers to advocate for specific causes or legislation. It’s an opportunity for constituents to share personal stories, highlight issues, and urge elected officials to take action. When lawmakers hear directly from the people they represent, it can influence real change. For historically marginalized communities, including Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrants and refugees, rural communities, and people experiencing poverty, it is critical that those in positions of power hear our voices. Unite Oregon brings our members from across the state to the State Capitol every year to advocate for the policies that directly affect us.What should I wear to Lobby Day?
We recommend members come wearing a Unite Oregon T-Shirt to show legislators who we are! If you don’t have one, we will have extras available for free! Other than that, we recommend dressing with intention. This doesn’t mean you have to be in your fanciest outfit, just wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable.Where will the Lobby Day take place?
Lobby Day will take place at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Oregon. Our homebase will be a short walk from the Capitol at the Oregon State Library. If you are not able to join us in-person, we will also have Zoom options available.Where do I park?
There is plenty of street parking in the blocks around the Capitol and State Library. If you map yourself to the State Library, there should be many options for you nearby.Should I bring anything with me?
We will have everything you may need ready for you that day, but it may be helpful (and reduce waste) if you bring a water bottle and a bag. Anything else, we will provide. How much does it cost?
Lobby Day is entirely free! We will provide food, transportation, interpretation, drinks, activities, community, and joy! All we need is for you to join us!
