Decisions…
Since 2022, the Oregon Health Authority has worked with Unite Oregon to inform the Latinx community about the stigma surrounding sexual and reproductive health choices. Last year, Rogue Valley Chapter Director Virginia Camberos suggested telling these stories as Mini-Telenovelas. The Oregon Health Authority embraced the idea, and this year Unite Oregon expanded on it. With the guidance of Erika Bucio, the Rogue Valley Reproductive Health Lead Community Organizer, our Forward Youth Group participated in all aspects of production; including writing scripts, assisting with filming, and acting in the videos.
We are excited to present the trailer for part 1 of our two-part mini-series, Decisions. It follows a young father trying to avoid repeating his father's mistakes in communicating; and his son, dealing with pressures of personal communications of his own. It also features Ofelia, a girl eager to please her boyfriend but unsure about the level of commitment he desires. Three characters, all grappling with difficult decisions.

Dana, our production team member, is also our youngest Forward Youth Group member.
“I’m kind of new to the group, so I wanted to ease in to the projects behind the scenes.”
“I thought it would be fun and challenging to try something out of my comfort zone. ”
Although his first love is music, Diego, our newest Forward Youth Group member, was chosen to play the son.
Emilio Chavez had his hands full holding down the Forward Youth Group Leadership duties, but jumped in to play the father,
Giselle was our script writer. You might recognize her from her acting role in the first series, released in 2023.
High School Seniors Cristy and Jennavieve wanted to be in a scene together, and were the heart and soul of the production. Besides being natural actors, they kept us all laughing on shoot days.
