The Washington County Chapter of Unite Oregon is focusing on the issues that our members have prioritized for us, including raising wages for workers; continuing racial justice work like ending police profiling; fighting for justice and dignity for immigrants and refugees; addressing the affordable housing crisis, and focusing on holistic community health and wellness.
Other issues we work on include planning and land use issues, transportation access and affordability, economic justice for working women, environmental justice, and civic engagement. All of our work is approached through a racial justice lens and with a focus on developing the leaders of tomorrow as we build a powerful movement for justice.
Throughout all of our campaigns and issue work, we are continuing our focus on developing new organizers and community leaders, as well as continuing to take a visible leadership role in the community as an organization.
Programs within the Washington County Chapter include:
Dare to Invest in Learning to Lead African Women Program (DILL): The DILL African women program is for emerging African women leaders in Washington County to build relationships, gain civic and political knowledge, and develop community organizing and leadership skills..
TV Highway Equity Coalition (TEC): Tualatin Highway transit improvement project is a government-led process to find alternatives for faster, safer, and reliable transit along the TV Highway corridor.
Beaverton Organizing and Leadership Development (BOLD): Our leadership development program for emerging immigrant and refugee leaders who reside in the City of Beaverton.
Beaverton Inclusive Housing Cohort: Our community-organizing cohort educates and works towards addressing a broad range of housing issues to create more inclusive neighborhoods in Beaverton.
Washington County Equitable Housing Coalition: Our community-organized coalition educates and works towards a broad range of housing issues such as affordable housing and protection from evictions in Washington County.
Washington County Civic Leadership (for AFRHEEC): This program is for emerging African women leaders in Washington County to build relationships, gain civic and political knowledge, and develop community organizing and leadership skills.

Our Leadership
Unite Oregon, Washington County is led locally by a leadership council of 5-10 members who live in our community. We prioritize immigrants, refugees, and people of color for leadership council positions. 2-4 members of our leadership council are elected up to Unite Oregon's statewide Board of Directors.
Washington County Leadership Cohort, our leadership development program organizes diverse community leaders in Washington County who are passionate about building a multi-racial, multicultural democracy inclusive of all.
