Democracy Thrives when Every Voice is Heard

Voting is the foundation of our democracy. By 8:00 pm today, hundreds of thousands of Oregonians will have communicated their preferences and elected representatives for local districts, such as school, water, transportation, port positions, and more. Unite Oregon is proud to continue promoting diversity and building toward a just and equitable future for all Oregonians.

At Unite Oregon, we know that local elections have a significant impact, and a few thousand votes decide many smaller elections. That is why we support issues that align with our commitment to advance social, racial, and economic justice for immigrants and refugees, Black, Indigenous, and low-income families in the state of Oregon.

Because democracy thrives when every voice is heard, all Oregonians should have a say in what happens in their community and a voice in their government. The right to vote is enshrined in our constitution and fundamental to a vibrant and participatory democracy. During this legislative session, Unite Oregon has been advocating for the adoption of SB 579, which would restore the voting right of 12,000 people incarcerated in Oregon. These members of our society are currently denied the right to vote, leading to more low-income, Black, Indigenous, and communities of color being disproportionately disenfranchised. This is why the power of our vote can make a seismic impact on our lives and our communities.

Join our immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC communities in shaping a better future through the power of your vote.
